EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS AT THE

SHIAWASSEE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT

The Shiawassee County Health Department emergency preparedness program focuses on ensuring that we are prepared to respond to intentional or unintentional public health emergencies.  Preparedness efforts include:

  • Ensuring that we can provide medicine or vaccine to all citizens in a short time frame

  • Controlling the spread of communicable diseases by investigating outbreaks, issuing quarantine orders (if necessary) and limiting public gatherings

  • Ensuring that the water and food supplies remain safe

  • Regulating sewage disposal systems to ensure that they are operated in a safe manner

  • Communicate health risks to the public
